Mary Mancera
President
Mary Mancera is a career marketing communications professional with experience gained in diverse industries including: financial services, mortgage lending, real estate, consumer products and mass retail. She has spearheaded brand-building national public relations campaigns, major product launches and designed communications programs that reach broad and diverse audiences.

On the client side, she has worked for major brands such as Bank of America, Security Pacific, the Upper Deck Company and Handyman Home Centers and directed employee communications, advertising, special events, public relations and marketing promotions. As a consultant, she works closely with national and regional clients to develop message strategies that strengthen ties with core audiences and create major brand profile through trade and national media placements. Her goal, always, is to help her clients become recognized as leading experts in their fields.

Mancera has served on the local board of the International Association of Business Communicators, worked as a volunteer in the San Diego City Schools Mentor Program and Mama’s Kitchen, a meal service for individuals with AIDS.
Kirk Surry
Media Relations Consultant
For the past 15 years, Kirk Surry has told compelling stories for clients in the non-profit, internet, consumer, healthcare, and entertainment industries. His award-winning strategies mix traditional media with direct-to-consumer channels to reach audiences with relevant information where and when they need it most.

Surry began his career with Chicago-based Public Communications Inc. where his team earned outstanding industry recognition for the launch of the National Library of Medicine's Visible Human Project. Other clients included the Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox, Radiological Society of North America, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and other specialty medical associations. As public relations manager at Bailey Gardiner Inc. in San Diego, he led award-winning campaigns on behalf of Sprint PCS, The Upper Deck Company, SeatAdvisor.com, The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Harrods of Knightsbridge and AIDS Walk San Diego.

As an indie consultant, Surry has worked as a copywriter and developed thought leadership and media relations strategies for Bell Rock Growers, Viejas Enterprises, San Diego Performing Arts League, California Center for the Arts – Escondido and First Night Escondido.

Surry is a magna cum laude graduate of Loyola University at Chicago, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in communication and a minor in theatre (He finds a little drama background is always useful in the media biz!).

Judy Vargas began her career PR activities for a major hospital in the growing suburb of Aurora, Illinois. A journalism major with a voracious appetite for academia, she moved beyond the job to continue her studies, going on to get advanced degrees in education and counseling. Throughout her career, writing has been an integral outlet for her personally and professionally. A self-proclaimed life-long learner, her interests include wellness, the medical field, real estate and the arts.
